Eco-stores
They use at least 20% less electricity and 40% less water than conventional stores.
Eco-efficiency is a primary consideration in how we design our new stores, and we are rapidly upgrading and renovating our existing stores to comply with these efficiency targets and meet our 2020 objective. To date, we have implemented these targets in 86% of our total store footprint (100% in China) and all Zara stores in the world will be eco-efficient by the end of 2019, one year ahead of the original target.
Our flagship eco-stores are beacons of best practice throughout our business, and one of the most visible indicators to our customers of our commitment to environmental sustainability.
Around 38 of our flagship stores have full LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) or BREEAM certification, two of the most respected benchmarks in environmental standards for green buildings.
LEED and BREEAM guidelines encompass energy, water, waste, materials, surroundings, innovation and other sustainability measures –and we follow their recommendations for all our construction and refurbishment projects.
