Inditex opens its first for&from store in Mexico

The Group now has 16 of these establishments, which are managed by non-profits for the inclusion of people with disabilities, in Spain, Portugal, Italy and Mexico

Inditex has opened the Group’s first for&from store in Mexico, specifically in the capital city's Samara Shops shopping centre, making it the fourth market to welcome this retail format for the integration into society and the workplace of people with disabilities, adding to its existing stores in Spain, Italy and Portugal.

All of Inditex’s for&from stores are managed by specialist non-profit organisations and they all replicate the same model: starting from an upfront donation by Inditex to help get the store up and running, the establishments become self-sustainable through the sale of prior-season products at discounted prices; the profits generated go entirely to finance charitable projects organised by the partner charities. CONFE, a local entity with more than 46 years’ experience, represents a network of +100 organisations in Mexico, will manage this new men’s, women’s and kids’ footwear establishment in Mexico City, where nine people with different disabilities work.

Inditex currently has 16 for&from stores which between them have generated employment opportunities for over 850 people with different abilities and more than €8.5 million for the charitable work done by the various managing organisations. Moreover, this initiative seeks to create beacon retail venues that raise awareness about the importance of integrating people with disabilities by fostering inclusion and accessibility and eliminating barriers.

For&from dates back to 2002 when Massimo Dutti opened the platform’s first store in Palafolls (Barcelona). Today, Pull&Bear, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho and Tempe Inditex are also part of the platform.
