Oysho opens its first ten stores in Spain and Portugal

06.09.2001

The sixth chain of the Inditex group expects to have 25 stores in six European countries by the end of this fiscal year.

The fashion retail group Inditex opens tomorrow the first ten stores of its Oysho chain, devoted to lingerie, underwear and swimwear for men and women. These first stores are located in five Spanish cities (Barcelona, Valencia -two stores-, A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela and Fuengirola) and four Portuguese locations (Braga, Faro, Guia and Funchal). Oysho is the sixth chain of the Inditex group and joins Zara, Pull and Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka and Stradivarius. Its headquarters are located in Tordera (Barcelona) and house a team of professionals specialised in the design, production and marketing of lingerie. Its distribution and logistics centre is also located at the same site. In this fiscal year Inditex forecasts include the opening of 15 new Oysho stores and the extension of this new concept to another four European countries, with stores in Belgium, Holland, Germany and Greece. This openings plan confirms the international scope of Oysho, which it shares with the rest of the chains of the Inditex group. Oysho transfers the philosophy of the Inditex group to the lingerie sector, directing quality products at good prices, which reflect fashion trends in underwear, at a wide range of customers. Oysho will offer new products every week and will renew 80% of its collection each season. An average Oysho store measures between 250 and 300 m2, larger than the standard for this market and type of product. The dimensions of the store are motivated by the great diversity of the Oysho offer and by the desire to create a comfortable environment for customers. Its location, both in the high street and in shopping centres, follows very strict criteria, similar to those of Zara. In fact, the proximity of stores from the two chains, which could even share the same building, will not be surprising, although each always with clearly differentiated spaces and with its own identity, characterised by a very modern atmosphere, with very carefully designed details, from the layout of the store to the materials, furniture, lighting, etc. Oysho sells underwear, nightwear and clothing for urban sports, hosiery, swimwear and homewear, accessories and cosmetics.
