Inditex's net sales rose to 2,338 million euros in the first quarter of 2009
* Net sales increased by 8% in local currencies.
* Store sales in local currencies from 1 May to 7 June rose 9%.
* Net income reached 184 million euros.
* Inditex opened 95 new stores in the first quarter bringing its total number of stores to 4,359 in 73 countries.
Zara arrives to Egypt with a first opening in Cairo
Since today, Zara has its first store in Egypt, in the city of Cairo. The store is located at Star Centre, one of the most state-of-the art shopping malls in the Middle East, with upwards of 500 stores of relevant national and international operators, just a few minutes away from Cairo’s international airport.
Pull and Bear and Bershka open its first stores in China
Pull and Bear has chosen Beijing for its first opening in China. The store is located in Solana shopping mall, one of the main shopping areas of the Chinese capital, located in the north-west of the Chaoyang Park, the biggest urban park in Asia. The Pull and Bear store has 300 square metres in which it will sell the men’s and women’s collections. Next week, Pull and Bear will open its second store in Beijing, this time in the U-Town shopping mall.
